Loneliness: The soundless yet the silent killer

Have you ever been and still felt lonely in a crowded room?

The truth is, no matter how many individuals are around you physically, you can feel lonely anywhere, anytime. Loneliness causes individuals to feel empty, alone, and undesirable.

People who are lonely often crave human contact. But it is more difficult to form connections with other people because of their state of mind.

Loneliness is not necessarily about being alone, according to many experts. If you feel alone and isolated instead, then that’s how loneliness plays into your state of mind.

But we’ve put together a guide to help make that happen if you’re sick of feeling solo and are eager to get connected.

Hanging out with like-minded individuals

What are you into—video games, books, music? Joining a club is an amazing way to meet like-minded people and connect with them.

Meet-Up is another option.

It brings together people who enjoy things or activities that are similar, whether it’s fitness, photography, tech, or, well, almost anything. And that’s for free!

Writing out what you feel to combat loneliness

It’s a perfect way to combat depression, because it lets you process your thoughts and get a better picture of what you think.

Writing is quite a helpful way to cope with feelings of loneliness, whether it’s scribbling thoughts in a journal, jotting down lyrics, or gathering what’s on your mind and uploading it in word doc or maintaining a diary.

Get active to fight with loneliness

Okay, so to keep you well and less distracted, exercise is fine, but have you thought about it as a way to meet new people?

At the moment, you may not be able to join an exercise or sports party, but you might begin investigating by doing a Google search or sending an email to the organiser.

In the meantime, going for a stroll or running with someone can be a perfect way to communicate without strain.

Back to riding solo by yourself

Don’t you feel comfortable asking someone to hang out? That’s great. Grab a good book, or just your Reddit feed, and find a nice seating spot.

As well as trying to meet people, there’s value in spending time on your own. You may discover that you enjoy your own business more than you expect.

There are different needs for a lonely child who struggles to make friends in school than for a lonely older adult whose spouse has recently died. It is important to take a closer look at exactly what we mean by the term “lonely,” in order to understand loneliness, as well as the different causes, health consequences, symptoms, and potential treatments for loneliness.

They call loneliness, the soundless killer, because its effects are not visible immediately and the situation is rarely discussed.

Yet almost everybody at one time or another has suffered from it. Slowly but steadily, it destroys individuals. Loneliness is the silent killer.

One can conquer loneliness. On your side, it does take a deliberate effort to make a change.

In the long run, making a change will make you happier, healthier, and encourage you to have a positive effect on those around you.
